Surprise/Luke Notification Map

It is very important that prospective new homeowners in this area are aware of the proximity to Luke Air Force Base. Our current residents and City Leadership is proud of our partnerships with Luke Air Force Base and when a jet does fly overhead, it is very common to hear the words: “The Sound of Freedom”. Surprise has a high percentage of residents that are veterans of our military services.

Luke Air Force Base

Luke Air Force Base has a long history and has been in service as a pilot training base since before most of the 150,000 plus residents, if not all residents of Surprise moved here. Our Surprise City Hall and Downtown City Center Area many years ago was actually Luke’s Aux 3 “Fighter Field.” In fact, it is located in the exact spot of one of the old runways. If you look closely while at City Hall, you can see the Blue Lights on the ground representing the runway.

F16 and F35 Pilots are Trained at Luke AFB

The Luke Air Force Base Website has much more information about the Base and its mission.

“The 56th Fighter Wing, headquartered at Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, Ariz., is the largest fighter wing in the U.S. Air Force. The wing is part of Air Education and Training Command. The wing also oversees the Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field and is steward of the 1.7 million acre Barry M. Goldwater Military Training Range.” Source: Luke Air Force Base Fact Sheet.

“Best Internet Providers In Surprise AZ, As Voted By Over 50 Residents”

Who doesn’t need or want Internet? Here is a very good and detailed article about the “Best Internet Providers in Surprise, AZ, as voted by over 50 residents” we found on the suggestedbylocals.com website – check it out. They include information about Internet provided by Cox and CenturyLink as well as several other providers.

We do want to add a few of new options in Surprise to consider for those looking for Internet:

  • T-Mobile 5G Home Internet – The Plan is $50 a month including fees and taxes with no contract. We switched to this plan after years on Cox and CenturyLink and we are very happy with the fast speed of the connection. We just ran a Speed test and our Download speed is 163Mps and our upload is 30.7Mbps on a cellphone connected through a home network while more than a dozen other devices were also in use including a live teleconference. I ran the Speed test after the teleconference completed and recorded and increased download speed of 300Mps and an upload speed of 30Mps. You will need to check on the T-Mobile Website to see if it is available in your area. We were told that each node on the Cell Tower can only accommodate 10 local users. They can accommodate more once additional equipment is installed on the tower.
  • Verizon 5G Home Internet – The current plan prices start at half off with autopay making it $25 a month for the lowest cost plan. You also need to confirm on the Verizon website to see if the service is available in your area (close to your home). We inquired, and Verizon was not currently available near our home. Our specific area also had trouble with dropped calls on a business phone near the home, while that Verizon phone worked great in other areas of Surprise.
  • Wyyerd Fiber – Wyyerd Fiber residential service starts at $65 per month for 300Mbps and goes up to $150 for the highest speed at 2Gbps. “Wyyerd is your local fiber-to-the-home company that offers affordable and reliable high-speed fiber internet, with residential services that reach up to 2 gigabits (2,000 Mbps up and 2000 Mbps down), VoIP home phone service, and managed Wi-Fi for your home and small business.  Wyyerd is proud to provide some of the fastest high-speed internet plans available today, with symmetrical download speeds and upload speeds and unlimited data, fair pricing with no hidden fees or surcharges, no surprise rate increases, no install fees, and never any data caps. Whether you’re working from home, online gaming, or streaming TV, with Wyyerd you can experience the fiber difference – a reliable internet connection with superior speeds that is not susceptible to weather conditions.  High-speed internet is a core utility that enables communities to thrive, businesses to excel and people to live where they want. This is what Wyyerd delivers.” – Wyyerd Fiber.
